Dbeibah Receives Libyan Citizens Khasheibah and Al-Mazoughi Following Their Release in Italy

Tripoli, July 28, 2026 (LANA) – Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dbeibah, received on Tuesday at the Cabinet Office the two Libyan citizens, Mohammed Al-Mazoughi and Muhannad Khasheibah, following the completion of their release procedures in Italy and their return to Libya.

During the meeting, Dbeibah affirmed that the government had been following the case of the two Libyan citizens from the outset and had worked through diplomatic and legal channels to complete the procedures related to the case, which became publicly known as the "Football Players Case." He stressed the government's commitment to monitoring the affairs of Libyan citizens abroad and safeguarding their interests.

According to the Prime Minister's Media Office, Al-Mazoughi and Khasheibah expressed their gratitude to the Prime Minister and to the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Justice, commending the efforts and coordination that contributed to completing the necessary procedures and securing their return to Libya.

The two Libyan citizens returned home following diplomatic and legal efforts led by the competent authorities, in coordination with the Libyan Embassy in the Republic of Italy, to finalize the procedures related to their release and return arrangements.
