Massad Boulos: A fruitful call with Dbeibah to discuss steps to strengthen the path to unifying Libya

Tripoli, July 27, 2026 (LANA) – Senior US Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, revealed that he had a productive phone call with the head of the Government of National Accord, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, during which they discussed steps to strengthen the process of unifying the country.

In a tweet posted on his X account on Tuesday, Boulos said that the call with Dbeibah was fruitful, explaining that it addressed military and security cooperation between eastern and western Libya, as well as opportunities to enhance coordination and operational interoperability between Libyan forces and the US Africa Command (AFRICOM).

The US official added: “During this call, I reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to supporting the unification of Libya, in a way that achieves lasting peace, stability, and prosperity.”
