Dbeibah stresses the need to complete the preparation of educational institutions and ensure the timely delivery of school textbooks

Tripoli, July 26, 2026 (LANA) – Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dbeibah, stressed on Sunday the importance of adhering to the approved timelines for completing the preparation of educational institutions and ensuring that school textbooks are delivered before the start of the new academic year.

The remarks came during his meeting with Minister of Education Mohammed Al-Qriou to review the ministry's implementation progress and the execution of its plans and programs as part of preparations for the upcoming academic year.

Dbeibah also emphasized the need to continue implementing teacher training and capacity-building programs, while accelerating digital transformation efforts to enhance the efficiency of the education sector and improve the quality of the educational process.

For his part, the minister reviewed the ministry's training and development programs, which include academic and professional initiatives aimed at improving the competencies of teachers and administrative staff. He also highlighted efforts to advance digital transformation, most notably the launch of the Educational Indicators Platform, which replaces paper-based records with comprehensive and accurate real-time data, thereby enhancing planning efficiency, supporting decision-making, and improving performance monitoring across all levels.

Regarding school textbooks, Al-Qriou stated that more than 90 percent of the textbooks have been delivered to the ministry's warehouses, while distribution has already begun to 7,534 educational institutions. He added that distribution is scheduled to be completed by the end of next August, ensuring full readiness before the beginning of the new academic year.

The minister also reviewed the latest developments in education infrastructure projects, confirming the opening of more than 340 schools under the Return to Life initiative. He noted that coordination with the Administrative Centers Development and Development Agency is continuing to complete the furnishing and equipping of the schools with classroom furniture and educational materials to provide a suitable learning environment for students.

The meeting concluded with a review of a number of organizational and administrative matters, including educational inspection and supervision, the regulation of private education, and the new regulations adopted by the ministry governing the appointment of Directors of Education Offices and school principals, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen educational administration and enhance institutional performance.
