Speaker of the House of Representatives Meets Representatives of the Fezzan National Forum and Stresses the Importance of Unifying Efforts to Achieve the Electoral Process

Benghazi, July 26, 2026 (LANA) – Speaker of the House of Representatives, Counselor Aguila Saleh, met with representatives of the Fezzan National Forum to discuss the latest political and economic developments and hear their views and proposals regarding the current stage.

According to the Speaker's Media Office, Aguila Saleh listened during the meeting to the opinions and observations of the forum's representatives, which includes a number of academics, activists, and opinion leaders, on the overall situation in the Fezzan region and Libya as a whole. They also presented proposals aimed at addressing the Libyan crisis and reaching a comprehensive political settlement through the organization of parliamentary and presidential elections at the earliest possible date.

During the meeting, the Speaker of the House of Representatives underscored the national and historical role of the Fezzan region in building the modern Libyan state. He praised the efforts of academics, intellectuals, tribal elders, and members of the Fezzan National Forum in supporting the dialogue process and contributing to political decision-making, reflecting their commitment to advancing the national interest.

He also reviewed the latest political developments, stressing the need to move forward with holding parliamentary and presidential elections as the definitive solution to ending the transitional period, achieving lasting stability, and continuing the process of development and reconstruction across all regions of the country, particularly the Fezzan region.

At the conclusion of the meeting, members of the Fezzan National Forum renewed their support for the House of Representatives as the country's elected legislative authority. They also affirmed their commitment to maintaining communication and coordination with the House leadership in a manner that contributes to unifying positions and strengthening national consensus, according to the Speaker's Media Office.
