The foreign ministers of Egypt and Tunisia discuss developments in Libya by phone

Cairo, July 26, 2026 (LANA) – Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Badr Abdel-Aty, discussed bilateral relations with Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, in a telephone call. They also discussed several regional issues of mutual interest, primarily the developments in Libya.

The official Facebook page of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on Monday that the call addressed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries, in addition to consultations on regional developments, particularly the Libyan situation.

Regarding the Libyan issue, Minister Abdel-Aty commended the outcomes of the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Tripartite Neighboring Countries Mechanism on Libya, which Cairo hosted on May 21. He emphasized the importance of the mechanism's regular meetings as a crucial framework for coordinating the positions of neighboring countries.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister affirmed that the mechanism contributes to supporting the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Libyan state, and preserving its national institutions, thereby strengthening Libya's security and stability and serving the aspirations of its people.
