Government Monitors the Work of the National Center for Plant Protection and Quarantine.

Tripoli, July 26, 2026 (LANA) – An expanded meeting was held today, Sunday, in the capital, Tripoli, to monitor the work of the National Center for Plant Protection and Quarantine, review its operations, and examine its responsibilities and the services it provides in the field of plant protection and quarantine.

The meeting included the Minister of State for Prime Ministerial and Cabinet Affairs, Mohamed Bin Ghalbon, the Minister of Agriculture, Abdul Latif Al-Taher, and the Director of the Inspection and Follow-up Department at the Cabinet Office, Khalifa Shaliq.

The meeting discussed mechanisms to support the center and enhance its technical and operational capabilities, thereby improving the efficiency of the services it provides. It also emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation with the Environmental Health Department at the Ministry of Local Government and strengthening the integration of efforts among relevant entities to ensure that tasks are carried out according to the highest professional standards.

The participants in the meeting affirmed their support for the National Initiative for Sustainable Agricultural and Environmental Development, aimed at ensuring safe agriculture and a sustainable environment. This national initiative seeks to raise environmental awareness, promote sound agricultural practices, and support efforts to protect natural resources, thereby contributing to sustainable environmental development and enhancing agricultural security throughout the country.

The National Center for Plant Protection and Quarantine is the competent authority for protecting plant resources. Its responsibilities include implementing agricultural quarantine measures, monitoring plant pests and diseases, controlling their spread, and overseeing the inspection of plants and agricultural products to ensure agricultural security and the safety of local production.
