The Ministry of Defense of the Government of National Unity announces the approval of a salary increase for members of the Libyan army

Tripoli, July 22, 2026 (LANA) – The Ministry of Defense of the Government of National Unity announced the approval of a salary increase for members of the Libyan Army, following the signing and approval of the proposal submitted by the Ministry to the Prime Minister's office. This step encompasses various military and administrative ranks within the armed forces.

The Ministry stated on its official page that the approval of the increase came with the attention and support of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, and through the efforts of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff. The proposal submitted by the Ministry regarding the salary increase for members of the Libyan Army was signed and approved on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

The Ministry explained that the decision includes officers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, and civilian employees, in addition to the families of martyrs who have reached retirement age. This is in recognition of the efforts and sacrifices made by members of the armed forces in protecting the homeland and defending its security and stability.

The Ministry noted that the proposal also took into account the circumstances of those currently serving who are eligible for retirement, indicating that this group was not overlooked, thus ensuring that all members of the armed forces receive their entitlements fairly.

The ministry added that this step comes within the framework of supporting members of the military establishment and enhancing their professional conditions, in appreciation of the role they play in protecting the country and preserving the security of citizens.
