Masoud Suleman Reiterates the Call for Investment in Gas Industry Development Projects in Libya.

Tripoli, 21 July 2026 (Lana) The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Masoud Suleman, reiterated his call for investment in gas industry development projects in Libya, emphasizing that the cornerstone of NOC’s vision for developing gas industry projects is to increase investment and launch new initiatives to further strengthen the gas sector, to secure reliable supplies for the local market and meet its growing energy needs.

In his speech at the opening of the second edition of a technical workshop on the “Strategic Vision of the NOC for Natural Gas Development Projects in Libya,” Suleman stressed the importance of building partnerships with international companies to invest in this vital sector, to form strong partnerships that expand both onshore and offshore exploration to bring discoveries to the level of proven reserves, which would help create a more attractive investment climate, support the transfer of expertise, and create new opportunities for Libya’s private sector and national workforce.

He also affirmed the NOC’s continued commitment to international agreements on emissions reduction, pointing to the operational progress made in cutting gas flaring and said the NOC would continue working with international partners to achieve the goal of near-zero gas flaring, in pursuit of national interests and mutual benefit.

He explained that the workshop was organized as a follow-up to the success of the first edition and in response to expert recommendations to review the NOC’s plans for managing gas reserves estimated at 53 trillion cubic feet.

The second edition of the workshop began yesterday at the Corinthia Hotel in Tripoli, and was attended by the Minister of Oil and Gas, Dr. Khalifa Abdul Sadiq, members of the NOC board of directors, chairmen of oil company boards, representatives from international companies, directors of relevant departments within the NOC, and a select group of international experts.
