Douma discusses with experts and academics the development of the legislative and financial environment in the country

Benghazi, July 19, 2026 (LANA) – The Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Misbah Douma, met today, Sunday, at the House headquarters in Benghazi, with a select group of the country's leading academics, financial experts, and economists to discuss the current economic situation and the development of the legislative and financial environment in Libya.
According to House of Representatives spokesperson Abdullah Blihaq, the meeting included Dr. Khaled Al-Nakhat, Dr. Amraj Ghaith, Najwa Al-Aqouri, Jumaa Al-Hassi, Ali Saad Al-Bardah, and Ibrahim Belkhair, in addition to Abdul-Moneim Balkour, a member of the House of Representatives' Finance Committee, who participated via video conference.
The discussion focused on reviewing and evaluating the existing financial and tax laws in the country and identifying shortcomings and legislative gaps that hinder their practical implementation.
The attendees discussed mechanisms for amending and updating these laws to address current shortcomings and contribute to drafting flexible legislation that aligns with rapid economic changes and keeps pace with technological advancements and modern digitalization systems in the financial sector globally and locally.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the attendees affirmed their commitment to continued coordination and holding regular, intensive meetings to finalize legislative proposals and present them to the House of Representatives, serving the interests of the national economy and achieving financial stability for the country.
