Zliten, July 18, 2026 (LANA) – Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, attributed the return of the recurring power outages in the capital and other Libyan regions to corruption and the mismanagement of the electricity company, vowing to take action.
During a cabinet meeting held today, Saturday, in Zliten, Dbeibah said, “We spent large sums of money to resolve the electricity crisis, and a comprehensive investigation into the current outages must be launched.” He pointed out that the head of the electricity company is refusing any oversight of the company's operations.
He added, in an angry tone, “After we told Libyans that the electricity situation had improved and advised them to sell their generators, corruption has brought us back to square one, and we will not allow this to happen.”
