Tripoli, July 16, 2026 (LANA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity expressed its deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the government and people of Algeria for the victims of the tragic fire that broke out early Thursday morning at an orphanage on the outskirts of Algiers, resulting in the deaths of several children and staff members, and injuries to others.

The Ministry extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, praying to God Almighty to grant them His mercy, to grant the injured a speedy recovery, and to protect Algeria and its people from all harm and misfortune.

In a statement, the Ministry affirmed Libya's full solidarity with the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria during this painful humanitarian crisis, reiterating the deep fraternal ties that bind the two countries and their brotherly peoples.
