Al-Zoubi and the head of Egyptian intelligence discuss developments in Libya and ways to enhance security cooperation

Cairo, July 16, 2026 (LANA) – The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense of the Government of National Unity, Lieutenant General Abdul Salam Al-Zoubi, met with the Director of the Egyptian General Intelligence Directorate, Major General Hassan Rashad, in El Alamein, Egypt, to discuss the latest developments in Libya and ways to enhance security and military coordination between the two countries.

The meeting addressed several issues of mutual interest, primarily the evolving situation in Libya and mechanisms to support efforts to unify national institutions, thereby contributing to stability and creating a conducive environment for advancing the political process.

The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen security and military cooperation and intensify coordination and consultation on regional security challenges, in a manner that serves the security and stability of both countries and safeguards their shared interests.

Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and communication between the relevant institutions in Libya and Egypt, stressing the deep fraternal relations between the two countries and the necessity of strengthening joint action to support security and stability in the region and serve the interests of both brotherly peoples.
