Dbeibah directs the acceleration of the establishment of the Libyan school in Cairo and the development of consular services

Tripoli, July 16, 2026 (LANA) – The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dbeibah, received Ambassador Abdulmutallab Thabit, Libya's Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States and Chargé d'Affaires of the Libyan Embassy in the Arab Republic of Egypt, to discuss the situation of the Libyan community in Egypt and the level of services provided by the embassy to its citizens.
During the meeting, Dbeibah directed the embassy to expedite the establishment of the Libyan School in Cairo and to work towards allocating a permanent location for it. This will ensure a stable educational environment for the children of the community and alleviate the burdens on Libyan families residing in Egypt.
The Prime Minister also stressed the need to continue developing consular services, simplifying procedures, reducing processing times, and expanding the provision of electronic services. This will contribute to increasing efficiency and improving the quality of services provided to citizens.
He emphasized the importance of strengthening direct communication with members of the community, monitoring their humanitarian and social conditions, and activating mechanisms for receiving and addressing complaints. He also stressed the importance of continued coordination with Egyptian authorities to overcome any difficulties that Libyan citizens may face, particularly in the areas of residency, education, and healthcare.
For his part, Ambassador Abdulmutallab Thabit reviewed the work progress at the Libyan Embassy in the Arab Republic of Egypt, the measures taken to improve consular services, and the efforts made to follow up on the affairs of the Libyan community. He emphasized the continued commitment to implementing the directives of the Prime Minister to provide more efficient and higher-quality services to Libyan citizens residing in Egypt.
