New York, July 15, 2026 (LANA) – The First Deputy Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives and Head of the Libyan Parliamentary Division to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Fawzi Al-Nuwairi, and Member of Parliament and Member of the Libyan Parliamentary Division to the IPU, Rabia Abu Ras, participated in the 2026 IPU Parliamentary Forum, held yesterday, Tuesday, at the United Nations headquarters in New York City, as part of the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.

The forum brings together parliamentarians from around the world to discuss the role of parliaments in supporting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and strengthening partnerships between legislative institutions and the United Nations. This aims to contribute to the development of public policies and the monitoring of the implementation of international commitments related to the SDGs.

The forum is being held within the framework of efforts to enhance the role of national parliaments in supporting the Sustainable Development Agenda and to exchange experiences and parliamentary practices that contribute to achieving development goals at the national, regional, and international levels.
