The 5+5 Joint Military Committee affirms its support for unifying the military institution

Sirte, July 13, 2026 (LANA) – The Joint Military Commission (5+5) affirmed its support for all efforts aimed at unifying the Libyan military institution, stressing the importance of strengthening trust among its various components to achieve unification as soon as possible.
This came in a statement issued yesterday, Sunday, following the Commission's meeting held in Sirte. The Commission welcomed the participants, particularly the Chiefs of Staff, and commended the efforts of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) in bringing the Libyan parties together.
The Commission announced its support for initiatives aimed at addressing the political deadlock in Libya, calling on all participants in the meeting to exert further efforts to advance the process of unifying the military institution.
The Joint Military Commission (5+5) affirmed its continued commitment to working on building trust among the various military branches, which will contribute to achieving the goal of unifying the military institution.
