Tripoli, July 12, 2026 (LANA) – The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) welcomed the military-technical meeting held today in Sirte, attended by the Chiefs of Staff, the 5+5 Joint Military Commission, and the 3+3 Joint Military Commission.

In a statement, the Mission said that today’s meeting, which was attended by a UNSMIL delegation headed by the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Stephanie Khoury, is an important step in building trust and reflects the commitment of Libyan leaders to unifying the country’s military institutions.

The Mission commended the constructive efforts of the participants in this meeting, reaffirming its commitment to continuing to support this Libyan-led and Libyan-owned process through ongoing international facilitation and coordination.
