Dbeibah is following up on sports development plans and is exploring the establishment of a supreme body to support national teams.

Tripoli, July 12, 2026 (LANA) – Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah affirmed that the Government of National Unity is continuing to implement its programs to develop the sports sector.

This came during his meeting with Minister of Sports Fouad Barghash and Undersecretary of the Ministry Jamal Abu Nawara to follow up on the progress of work and plans aimed at developing the sports sector and strengthening its institutional structure.

Dbeibah stressed the importance of expediting the completion of these high-quality projects, as they represent a fundamental step towards building a modern sports system capable of supporting national teams, empowering youth, and enhancing the presence of Libyan sports in regional and international arenas.

The meeting discussed the executive procedures for establishing the Supreme Authority for Supporting National Teams in various sports, ensuring the provision of technical, administrative, and financial support to the teams. It also addressed the ongoing project to establish a comprehensive sports academy dedicated to preparing and training athletes and developing talent in various sports.

The meeting also discussed finalizing the practical procedures for establishing the National Sports Court, in coordination with the Ministry of Justice, which will enhance sports governance and provide a specialized legal framework for resolving sports disputes according to best practices.
