Al-Namroush meets with Italian Special Operations Commander in Rome

Rome, July 9, 2026 (LANA) – The Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army, Lieutenant General Salah al-Din al-Namroush, met with the Commander of the Italian Joint Special Operations Forces, Vice Admiral Paolo Pezzotti, to discuss ways to develop training and qualification programs for members of the Libyan Special Forces.

This meeting took place in the Italian capital, Rome, as part of the Chief of the General Staff's official visit to Italy.

The official page of the Libyan Army General Staff reported on Thursday that the meeting addressed mechanisms for strengthening cooperation between the two sides in the field of military training and benefiting from Italian expertise to develop the capabilities of the Libyan Special Forces, thereby contributing to raising the level of efficiency and operational readiness.

The two sides also discussed preparing a comprehensive training plan targeting members of the Libyan Special Forces, aimed at developing their skills and enhancing their capabilities, thus improving their field performance. This is within the framework of ongoing cooperation and military partnership between the two countries' armed forces.
