Al-Baour meets with Chinese Ambassador

Tripoli | July 9, 2026 (Lana) – The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, received the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Libya, Ma Xueliang, on Thursday, in the presence of the Director of the Department of Asian and Australian Affairs, Al-Hassan Mohammed Bin Rabha.
The meeting addressed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and develop the strategic partnership between Libya and China, focusing on expanding cooperation in the fields of economy, investment, infrastructure, and energy, in addition to trade, education, health, and technology.
The two sides also discussed encouraging Chinese companies to resume their projects in Libya and exploring new investment opportunities that would contribute to supporting development and enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries.
The two sides exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest, emphasizing the importance of continuing coordination and consultation in international forums to support security, stability, and development.
For his part, the Chinese ambassador expressed his country’s pride in the historical relations that bind it to Libya, stressing China’s commitment to continuing to strengthen bilateral cooperation and support development efforts, reflecting the strength of relations and the strategic partnership between the two countries.
