Al-Abed discusses with Al-Hafni the regulation of the conditions of Egyptian workers employed in Libya

Tripoli, July 8, 2026 (LANA) – The Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation in the Government of National Unity, Ali Al-Abed, met today, Wednesday, with the Chargé d'Affaires of the Egyptian Embassy in Libya, Tamer Al-Hafni, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation between Libya and Egypt in the field of labor market regulation.

The meeting addressed several issues of mutual interest, primarily regulating the status of Egyptian workers in Libya and finalizing the procedures governing their employment, according to the Ministry of Labor.

The Minister emphasized the Ministry of Labor and Rehabilitation's commitment to regulating the employment of foreign workers in accordance with applicable Libyan laws and regulations. This ensures the protection of the rights of both workers and employers, enhances labor market stability, and contributes to providing a legal and organized work environment.

He stressed the importance of continued coordination and cooperation between the two sides to facilitate administrative procedures and ensure Egyptian workers' compliance with the regulations and requirements governing employment in Libya. This serves mutual interests and reflects the deep fraternal relations between the two countries.

For his part, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Egyptian Embassy expressed his appreciation for the efforts exerted by the Ministry of Labor and Rehabilitation in regulating the labor market, emphasizing the Embassy's keenness to enhance cooperation and coordination with the Ministry and to support all measures that would facilitate the regularization of legal procedures for Egyptian workers.
