Tripoli, 8 July 2026 (Lana), U.S. Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs Massad Boulos emphasized that the United States is committed to backing Libyan efforts to achieve unity, prosperity, and lasting peace, highlighting that during his meeting yesterday with Misrata's municipal leaders, they discussed ways to provide US support for Libyan endeavors to reach a consensus on the path to holding successful national elections.
“I was pleased to meet with Misrata's municipal leaders for the first time today and to hear their aspirations for Libya’s future and address supporting efforts to strengthen the electoral process in the country,” Boulos said in a tweet yesterday.
“In Misrata, debating ideas is a part of the social fabric, and these elected leaders know firsthand what holding successful municipal elections in Libya requires,” he said.
“We discussed full U.S. support for Libyan efforts to reach consensus on a path to successful elections also at the national level,” he added.
