The agreement was signed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Libyan News Agency, Abdulbasit Ahmed Aboudia, and the Director of Italpress, Gaspari Borsellino, in the presence of the Director of the Department of Foreign Media at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, Bader Shneiba, the Libyan Deputy Consul in Palermo, Kamal Balashhar, the Consular Attaché at the Libyan Consulate in Palermo, Faiq Aboud, and the Middle East News Officer at Italpress, Massimiliano Boccolini.

The agreement aims to strengthen media cooperation between Italy and Libya through the exchange of news, content, and information, contributing to a more accurate and objective portrayal of both countries. It includes organizing joint training programs, workshops, and professional meetings, as well as exchanging journalists to support skills development and enhance professional expertise on both sides.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Libyan News Agency, Abdulbasit Aboudia, stated that this agreement stems from the deep historical ties that bind the Libyan and Italian peoples and the strong relations between the two countries.

He emphasized that cooperation with Italpress will contribute to delivering news related to Libya directly to Italy and Europe through an official and reliable source. It will also allow the Libyan public to gain a clearer understanding of Italian decisions and positions regarding Libyan affairs.

Aboudia added that the agreement also represents an important opportunity in the field of training. He explained that the Libyan News Agency looks forward to benefiting from Italpress's professional expertise by organizing training courses and professional meetings that will contribute to developing the capabilities of Libyan journalists and raising their efficiency.

For his part, Italpress Director Gaspare Borsellino emphasized that the agreement's objective extends beyond mere news exchange, aiming to establish a long-term institutional partnership based on the sharing of expertise, content, and professional experiences. He noted that the cooperation will also include organizing training programs and providing Libyan journalists with the opportunity to visit Italy and gain firsthand experience of the agency's working methods.

Borsellino explained that the issue of migration from Libya to Europe is one of the most prominent topics often addressed inaccurately, with some information circulating about it based on misleading reports. He affirmed that the cooperation between Italpress and the Libyan News Agency will contribute to providing documented and accurate information that reflects the true situation, free from distortion. He expressed his hope that this agreement will mark the beginning of a long and fruitful collaboration that will benefit both agencies.

For his part, Badr Shneiba, Director of the External Media Department at the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, expressed his support for the points raised by the director of the Italpress news agency regarding the need to combat fake news related to Libya. He emphasized that cooperation between the two agencies could play a significant role in disseminating accurate information and presenting a more balanced picture of the Libyan reality.

On this occasion, Shneiba extended an open invitation to media outlets and journalists to visit Libya and witness firsthand the true situation. He affirmed Libya's readiness to welcome all media professionals wishing to convey an accurate picture reflecting the realities on the ground, free from stereotypes and inaccurate information.

Both sides affirmed that the cooperation agreement embodies the pivotal role of media as a bridge for communication between countries, cultures, and institutions. It also strengthens a new path of cooperation that views the Mediterranean region as a strategic space for dialogue, development, and the consolidation of mutual understanding.

Italpress stated that this agreement represents a new milestone in the international expansion that is increasingly focused on the Mediterranean region, given its political, economic, social, and media significance.
