Valletta, July 6, 2026 (LANA) – Ibrahim Dbeibah, National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, met with Chris Fearne, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Malta, in Valletta to discuss bilateral cooperation and coordinate joint efforts on the issue of illegal immigration. The meeting was also attended by Walid Al-Lafi, Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs.
According to the Libyan government's platform, the two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, focusing on coordinating joint efforts on the issue of illegal immigration and developing cooperation mechanisms to address the associated challenges, thereby strengthening security and stability in the Mediterranean region.
They also reviewed the progress of existing cooperation projects in the energy sector and discussed ways to expedite their implementation, thereby strengthening the economic partnership between Libya and Malta and supporting energy security in the Mediterranean region.
Both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination and consultation between the two countries to serve their common interests and contribute to enhancing regional security, stability, and cooperation.
