Libya and Somalia agree to continue consultations and strengthen bilateral cooperation.

Tripoli, July 6, 2026 (LANA) – Libya and the Federal Republic of Somalia agreed to continue consultations and coordination to enhance bilateral cooperation and elevate relations between the two countries to broader horizons, thus achieving the common interests of the two brotherly peoples and strengthening the bonds of cooperation and friendship between them.
This came during a meeting held today, Monday, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Tripoli, between the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, and the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Libya, Abdul Fatah Sheikh Ahmed, on the occasion of the latter assuming his duties as his country's ambassador.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stated on its official page that the meeting addressed bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to strengthen and develop them in various fields, in a manner that serves common interests.
The two sides also discussed arrangements for the upcoming visit of the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, to Libya, and the importance of this visit in supporting the course of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by the Director of the Ministry's Arab Affairs Department, Najib Al-Rayani, and the official in charge of the Federal Republic of Somalia file, Malik Al-Asayfar.
