Libya and Egypt discuss strengthening consular cooperation.

Tripoli, 6 July 2026 (Lana)—Minister of State for Prime Ministerial and Cabinet Affairs, Mohamed Ben Ghalbon, held a meeting yesterday with the Chargé d'Affaires of the Egyptian Embassy in Libya, Tamer El-Hefny, to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between Libya and Egypt in the areas of governmental coordination and consular services.

The meeting discussed the progress of work at the Egyptian Consulate in Tripoli following its trial operation and the expansion of its services to facilitate procedures for the Egyptian community in Libya and enable Libyans to access consular services more easily and efficiently.

The meeting also discussed arrangements to strengthen the Egyptian diplomatic presence in Tripoli, including preparations for opening the Egyptian Embassy, ​​in addition to developing mechanisms for coordination and communication between the two sides on various issues of common interest to strengthen bilateral relations and serve the mutual interests of both countries.
