Al-Baour meets Richardson

Tripoli, July 5, 2026 (LANA) – The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, met today, Sunday, with the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Libya, Resident Coordinator, and Humanitarian Coordinator, Ulrika Richardson, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and joint coordination between Libya and the United Nations system in humanitarian and development fields, in support of the Government of National Unity's efforts to consolidate stability and achieve sustainable development.

During the meeting, which was also attended by the Acting Director of the Department of International Organizations, Sufian Balkhair, the two sides reviewed the latest developments in cooperation and discussed prospects for developing the partnership between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the United Nations system. They also exchanged views on a number of issues of common interest, with the aim of supporting national priorities and improving the effectiveness of UN programs and initiatives implemented in Libya.

Al-Baour emphasized the Ministry's commitment to strengthening constructive cooperation with the United Nations Mission and all its agencies, funds, and programs, in a way that serves common interests and contributes to supporting sustainable development efforts and enhancing stability in Libya.

For her part, Ulrika Richardson expressed her appreciation for the level of cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, affirming the United Nations' commitment to continuing its support for Libya and working in partnership with national institutions to achieve shared goals, thus fulfilling the aspirations of the Libyan people for development and stability.
