Eight People Detained for Possessing and Selling Banned Pesticides

Tripoli, July 4, 2026 (LANA) – The Public Prosecutor's Office in Gharyan, within the jurisdiction of the Public Order Prosecution, ordered the detention of eight people for possessing and selling banned agricultural pesticides.
The Public Prosecutor's Office stated on Saturday that investigations into the use of banned agricultural pesticides, within the jurisdiction of the Public Order Prosecution in Gharyan, revealed the existence of a trade in banned pesticides in the area extending from Gharyan to Nalot.
The office added that inspections of 25 shops resulted in the seizure of 79 containers of banned pesticides and the arrest of eight people caught in possession of them.
According to the office, the Public Prosecutor's Office ordered the pretrial detention of the eight individuals pending investigation, the confiscation of the banned substance, and the closure of the shops where it was stored.
