Al-Baour meets with the UNICEF representative in Libya

Tripoli, July 2, 2026 (LANA) – The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Taher Al-Baour, met today, Thursday, with the UNICEF Representative to Libya, Mohamed Fayyad, to discuss priority areas, particularly child protection and support for the education and health sectors.
The meeting addressed ways to enhance cooperation between Libya and UNICEF, strengthen social protection programs, and build national capacities in line with national priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The meeting also discussed the nomination of the new UNICEF Representative to Libya. Mohamed Fayyad briefed the Minister on the procedures undertaken in this regard, expressing his hope for continued close cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation during the transitional phase, to ensure the uninterrupted implementation of the organization's programs.
It was agreed to continue consultations and coordination, strengthen the partnership between the Libyan government and UNICEF, and develop future areas of cooperation that serve the interests of both parties and support national efforts aimed at improving the conditions of children and families throughout Libya.
