The Libyan Coast Guard and Ports Security Authority receives the patrol boat (Al-Kifah) after the completion of maintenance work in the Republic of Malta.

Valletta, July 1, 2026 (LANA) – The official handover ceremony for the patrol boat “Al-Kifah” took place in Valletta, Malta, on Monday, following the completion of comprehensive maintenance and technical upgrades to the highest standards.
The Ministry of Defense of the Government of National Unity stated that, as part of its efforts to develop naval capabilities and enhance the readiness of the Coast Guard and Ports Security Service, and in line with bilateral cooperation between Libya and Malta, the Coast Guard and Ports Security Service received the patrol boat “Al-Kifah” after the completion of maintenance work in Malta.
The Ministry considered this achievement to be part of its plan to modernize naval assets and improve the efficiency of operational units, thereby enhancing their ability to protect territorial waters, secure coasts and ports, support maritime navigation security, and carry out their national duties effectively and efficiently.
The ministry affirmed that returning the vessel to service represents a qualitative addition to the capabilities of the Coast Guard and Ports Security Service, reflecting its commitment to continuing to develop the capabilities of the military establishment. This contributes to strengthening maritime security and preserving national sovereignty, in accordance with an institutional vision based on building a modern military institution capable of confronting various challenges.
