UN mission: Tetteh discusses with Al-Lafi the recent presidential decisions and the security situation in Zawiya

Tripoli, July 1, 2026 (LANA) – The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Libya, Hanna Tetteh, met with Presidential Council member Abdullah Al-Lafi to discuss the latest political and security developments in Libya, including recent Council resolutions and the security situation in Zawiya.

According to the UN mission, the talks on Wednesday also addressed UNSMIL’s efforts to advance the mission-facilitated roadmap, including the meetings of the Small Group, as well as ways to unify the military and security institutions.

Al-Lafi expressed his support for the UN-led political process and the outcomes of the structured dialogue, while emphasizing the importance of addressing the core issues necessary to achieve peace and stability and create the conditions for inclusive elections.
