Al-Manfi: The multiplicity of Libyan military representation places us before a national responsibility that cannot tolerate further postponement

Tripoli, July 1, 2026 (LANA) – Presidential Council Head Mohammed al-Manfi stated that the multiplicity of Libyan military representation, unlike the practice in other countries, places a national responsibility on Libya that cannot be postponed any longer.

In a tweet on X, Al-Manfi said, “While the first meeting of the African Chiefs of Staff Conference in Angola carried positive indicators, and it will not be the last, the multiplicity of Libyan military representation, unlike the practice in other countries, places a national responsibility on Libya that cannot be postponed any longer.”

He added, “The time has come to take the necessary decisions to unify the national army under a joint, professional, and neutral command under civilian authority. This military institution must distance itself from politics, and its weapons must be used to protect the borders, safeguard national resources, combat smuggling, protect the governing constitutional frameworks, and consolidate the democratic system and state sovereignty.”
