Tripoli, June 30, 2026 (LANA) – Presidential Council member Abdullah Al-Lafi met on Tuesday with the Turkish Ambassador to Libya, Güven Begiç, to discuss the latest developments in the political process and efforts to unify the military institution.
Al-Lafi stated on his official page that the meeting addressed several issues of mutual interest, primarily bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and ways to enhance cooperation in various fields.
The two sides discussed the latest developments in the Libyan political landscape, efforts to address the political deadlock, and the latest developments in the political process, as well as the steps and procedures related to unifying the military institution, which would strengthen state institutions and consolidate security and stability.
During the meeting, both sides affirmed that the Presidential Council continues its pivotal role in contributing positively to resolving the political impasse and supporting paths leading to comprehensive national solutions. They stressed that any solution to the Libyan crisis must stem from the will of the Libyan people themselves, within a framework of pure national ownership of the solution, and with the participation of all key parties without exclusion or exception.
On the other hand, it was noted that addressing the current situation is not based on a logic of dominance, but rather on consensus, dialogue, and partnership among the various national forces, leading to a stable political process that culminates in legitimate elections, strengthens democracy, and fulfills the aspirations of the Libyan people.
For his part, the Turkish ambassador reiterated his country's support for the efforts and steps taken by the Presidential Council and welcomed the endeavors aimed at achieving stability and consensus in Libya, emphasizing the importance of continued coordination and joint consultation in a way that serves the interests of both countries and supports the aspirations of the Libyan people.
