Boushiha discusses with an Indian delegation ways to enhance economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

Tripoli, June 29, 2026 (LANA) – Minister of Economy and Trade in the Government of National Unity, Suhail Bushiha, met today, Monday, with the Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs for West Asia and North Africa of the Republic of India to discuss ways to enhance economic and trade cooperation and develop the partnership between the two countries.

The meeting addressed prospects for expanding cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, digital transformation, and capacity building. They also discussed a number of initiatives aimed at supporting the business environment and strengthening cooperation between public and private sector institutions in Libya and India.

For his part, the Indian Assistant Secretary of External Affairs announced that his country's embassy will soon begin issuing business visas from Tripoli, which will facilitate the movement of businesspeople and companies and enhance economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides emphasized the importance of building upon the historical relations between Libya and India and working to reactivate the Libyan-Indian Joint Committee, whose last meeting was held in 2007. They also stressed the need to update the mechanisms of joint cooperation to open new horizons for economic and developmental partnerships and achieve the mutual interests of both countries in the coming period.
