Al-Baour discusses with the Mauritanian ambassador a review of the bilateral agreements signed between the two countries

Tripoli, June 29, 2026 (LANA) – The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, met today, Monday, with the Mauritanian Ambassador to Libya, Sidi Yahya Lemrabott, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and reviewing agreements signed between the two countries.
The meeting, which was also attended by Najib Al-Rayani, Director of the Arab Affairs Department, and Osama Al-Jedi, Head of the Maghreb Section at the Department, addressed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries in various fields, contributing to raising the level of joint cooperation and serving mutual interests.
The two sides also discussed forming a technical committee to review the bilateral agreements signed between the two countries and to develop mechanisms to activate them in a way that meets the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.
The two sides agreed to continue coordinating through diplomatic channels to finalize the necessary arrangements for determining the date and venue of the Libyan-Mauritanian Joint Higher Committee meeting, which will strengthen the frameworks of bilateral cooperation and open broader horizons for partnership between the two countries.
The two sides also reviewed the most prominent current regional and international issues of common interest and exchanged views on them, emphasizing the importance of continuing consultations and coordination on various matters of mutual concern.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides affirmed their commitment to continued consultation and coordination in order to strengthen the fraternal relations between Libya and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and to achieve the common interests of the two brotherly peoples, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
