Al-Baour discusses with an Indian delegation ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and activate the Libyan-Indian Joint Committee.

Tripoli, June 28, 2026 (LANA) – The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Taher Al-Baour, met today, Sunday, with the Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs for West Asia and North Africa of the Republic of India, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries and activate their joint committee.

The Ministry stated on its official page that the meeting reflects the strong friendship and cooperation between Libya and India, contributing to strengthening and developing cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.

The two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and activate joint cooperation mechanisms, particularly in the political, economic, and investment fields, as well as cooperation in the energy, health, education, and capacity-building sectors. They also exchanged views on current regional and international issues of common interest, emphasizing the importance of continued consultation and coordination regarding developments in the region, in order to support security and stability and promote regional and international peace.

The meeting also addressed the importance of revitalizing institutional cooperation mechanisms between the two countries, working to activate the Libyan-Indian Joint Committee, and encouraging official visits between officials and business leaders, in a way that serves the common interests of the two friendly nations.

The two sides reviewed the importance of strengthening coordination and consultation between their countries within regional and international organizations and forums, and exchanging support for nominations and positions of common interest. This reflects the depth of the friendly relations between the two countries and contributes to serving their shared interests and enhancing their presence on the regional and international stages.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue consultations and coordination at the bilateral and multilateral levels, and to intensify communication between their respective foreign ministries. This will strengthen the bonds of friendship and open broader horizons for joint cooperation.

For his part, Suresh Kumar Manikum expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality, emphasizing his country's aspiration to consolidate cooperative relations with Libya and enhance communication and coordination in a way that serves the common interests of the two friendly nations. He also commended Libya's role in supporting regional stability and cooperation.
