Tripoli, June 23, 2026 (LANA) – The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Libya, Hanna Tetteh, met on Tuesday with a delegation of members of the High Council of State and dignitaries from Misrata to discuss the latest political developments in the country.
During the meeting, the delegation members expressed their concerns regarding what they described as a lack of transparency in some ongoing political processes. They called on the UN mission to move forward with implementing the roadmap it announced, in order to address the political stalemate.
The delegation also discussed a number of political initiatives, both UN-sponsored and non-UN-sponsored, emphasizing the importance of ensuring transparency and inclusivity in any political process, which would contribute to reducing violence and promoting stability. The participants expressed their appreciation for the outcomes of the structured dialogue.
For her part, Hanna Tetteh affirmed that the initiatives sponsored by the UN mission are characterized by inclusivity and transparency. She stressed the need to advance the political process towards achieving national unity and holding elections, enabling the Libyan people to choose their leadership through the ballot box.
