During his meeting with the Russian ambassador, Al-Baour emphasized Libya's keenness to develop its relations with Russia.

Tripoli, June 23, 2026 (LANA) – The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, affirmed Libya's keenness to develop its relations with the Russian Federation and enhance prospects for bilateral cooperation, in a way that serves the common interests of the two friendly nations.

This came during his meeting today, Tuesday, at the Ministry headquarters, with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Libya, Aydar Aganin, praising the level of historical relations between the two countries.

For his part, the Russian Ambassador reiterated his country's interest in strengthening cooperation with Libya in various fields and supporting efforts aimed at achieving stability and development, expressing Russia's aspiration to continue joint work and develop bilateral relations in the coming period.

The meeting addressed bilateral cooperation between Libya and the Russian Federation, with the two sides exchanging views on a number of issues of common interest and discussing ways to enhance cooperation in various political, economic, and cultural fields, in a manner that serves the common interests of the two friendly countries.

The two sides reviewed the latest developments on the regional and international scenes and exchanged views on the most prominent political and security developments, emphasizing the importance of continuing coordination and consultation on issues of common interest in order to support security and stability in the region.
