The Ministry of Defense of the Government of National Unity receives 21 Libyan citizens who were detained in Niger

Tripoli, June 22, 2026 (LANA) – The Ministry of Defense of the Government of National Unity received 21 Libyan citizens on Monday who had been detained in the Republic of Niger.

The Ministry stated that the Libyan citizens were transferred to Libyan territory and handed over to the relevant authorities to complete the legal and administrative procedures in accordance with applicable regulations. The Ministry noted that this comes within the framework of cooperation and joint coordination between the two countries and in implementation of relevant bilateral arrangements.

The Ministry of Defense expressed its appreciation to the authorities in the Republic of Niger for their cooperation and positive coordination, which contributed to the success of this operation. The Ministry affirmed its commitment to continuing to work with regional partners in a way that serves the interests of citizens and strengthens cooperation between the two countries, according to the platform.
