Egypt and the U.S. discuss the latest developments in Libya and regional issues.

Cairo, 22 June 2026 (Lana)—Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty discussed yesterday with U.S. Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, the latest developments in Libya and several regional issues of common interest.
During the meeting, Abdelatty emphasized Egypt’s steadfast support for Libya’s unity and stability, stressing the importance of unifying the national institutions and reaching an inclusive political settlement through a Libyan-led process that leads to simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible.
The official spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, stated that the talks addressed the latest developments in Libya, where both sides affirmed their support for efforts to achieve stability and preserve the unity of the Libyan state and its national institutions, thereby strengthening security and stability.
The two sides also discussed developments in Sudan and the Horn of Africa, as well as ways to enhance coordination and consultation on regional issues.
Both sides affirmed the depth of Egyptian-American relations and their commitment to continuing cooperation and joint coordination regarding developments in the region.
