Tunisian Foreign Minister reiterates his country’s support for Libya’s unity and security.

Tunis, 21 June 2026 (Lana)—Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Nafti emphasized his country's commitment to promoting security, stability, and unity in Libya through an inclusive Libyan-led dialogue leading to the establishment of a unified state and stable institutions that safeguard the Libyan people's resources.

This came during his meeting with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of UNSMIL, Hanna Tetteh, on the sidelines of her participation in the celebration of International Women in Diplomacy Day, held at the International Diplomatic Academy in Tunis on Friday.

Nafti also reiterated Tunisia's commitment to the trilateral consultation mechanism with neighboring countries, considering it an effective framework for dialogue and coordination and its role in supporting the work of the UN mission and its efforts to bolster the political process in Libya.

For her part, Tetteh briefed Nafti on the content of her recent briefing to the Security Council on the situation in Libya, as well as the UN's efforts to advance the implementation of the UN roadmap and intensify efforts to achieve a comprehensive political settlement that meets the Libyan people's aspirations for security, stability, and development.

She also commended Tunisia’s support for the mission’s efforts and its sincere commitment to supporting the Libyan people and preserving their national assets.
