Al-Baour and the Omani Ambassador Agree to Activate the Joint Higher Committee

Tripoli, June 14, 2026 (LANA) – The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity met today, Sunday, with the non-resident Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Libya, Hilal bin Abdullah bin Ali Al-Sinani, and agreed to activate the Libyan-Omani Joint Higher Committee and expand political and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The Ministry stated on its official page that the agreement was reached during a meeting between the two officials in Tripoli, which was also attended by the Director of the Ministry's Department of Arab Affairs, Najib Al-Rayani.

The Ministry explained that the meeting addressed bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries and ways to develop and strengthen it in various fields, in order to serve the common interests of both countries and their peoples.

During the meeting, both sides affirmed the distinguished fraternal relations between Libya and the Sultanate of Oman, expressing their keenness to enhance and elevate these relations to broader levels of cooperation and coordination.

The ministry indicated that preparations will be made to sign an agreement for political consultations between the two countries’ foreign ministries, in addition to exchanging views on a number of current regional and international issues of common interest.
