Al-Namroush meets French Ambassador

Tripoli, June 11, 2026 (LANA) – The Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army, Salah al-Din al-Namroush, discussed with the French Ambassador to Libya, Thierry Pallat, ways to develop the capabilities of the Libyan naval forces during an inspection tour of the Tripoli Naval Base, coinciding with the arrival of the French ship "Pluton."

The Presidency stated on its official page that the meeting was held yesterday, Wednesday, and came within the framework of joint cooperation programs and the exchange of military visits between the two countries, aimed at strengthening military cooperation and developing the capabilities of the naval forces.

Al-Namroush welcomed the French Ambassador and the ship's crew, praising the level of relations between the Libyan and French navies and the ongoing cooperation in the areas of training, qualification, and exchange of expertise.

He also reviewed the progress of work at the Tripoli Naval Base and the joint cooperation and training programs aimed at supporting and building the capabilities of the Libyan Navy. He was also briefed on the technical and specialized work and tasks carried out by the Underwater Research Center in the field of naval operations.

According to the Presidency, both sides affirmed the strength of their cooperative relationship and the continuation of joint work in implementing training and capacity-building programs and specialized technical projects, which contribute to enhancing the readiness of the Libyan Navy and developing its capabilities according to the highest professional standards.
