Pulbished on:

Shahat, June 8, 2026 (LANA) – The Shahat Antiquities Authority has begun implementing a project to re-fence and develop the “Al-Qana” (Roman aqueduct) site in the Al-Safsaf area. This site witnessed some of the fiercest battles of the resistance in 1913. The project is part of a systematic plan to highlight archaeological and historical sites associated with the struggles of our forefathers.

The Authority explained that this project is the first of two important projects directly linked to the Libyan resistance. Its implementation currently relies on support from a donor.

The project includes developing and cleaning the site, as well as installing an information panel with a QR code scanner containing complete details about the archaeological site and the historic Battle of Al-Safsaf.

The monitoring body emphasized that it views these sites carefully as a record of honor for future generations, noting that the ongoing development and modernization processes aim to enhance community awareness of the antiquities and history of resistance in the region, and to give these historical sites the utmost attention and care.
