Opening of the New Administrative Building at Sirte Gulf International Airport

Sirte, June 7, 2026 (LANA) – The new administrative building at Sirte Gulf International Airport was inaugurated yesterday evening. It is one of the largest administrative buildings at any Libyan airport, representing a significant achievement that reflects the scale of development and modernization underway at this vital facility. This is part of ongoing efforts to support infrastructure and enhance the efficiency of the civil aviation sector in the country.

The Libyan News Agency correspondent in Sirte reported that the opening of the new building is an important step in the development and modernization project of Sirte Gulf International Airport, one of the most prominent infrastructure projects in the central region. The project was completed and implemented by the National Development Authority as part of its plans to improve the level of services and operational facilities at the airport.

The opening ceremony was attended by members of the House of Representatives: Zayed Hadiya, Essam Al-Jahani, Ali Al-Soul, Faraj Al-Shalawi, Idris Omar, Idris Al-Maghribi, and Saad Al-Badri, along with the Director General of the National Development Authority, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Farjani, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Abdul Salam Bin Aqila, the Director General of Sirte Gulf International Airport, Engineer Imran Faraj, and the Commander of the Central Military Region, Major General Al-Mabrouk Sahban.

The ceremony was also attended by a number of officials from the security, military, and police forces, directors of departments at Sirte Gulf International Airport, as well as a large gathering of journalists, correspondents from the Libyan News Agency, and representatives of satellite channels.

The building was constructed according to a modern architectural style and under the supervision of engineers from the National Development Authority, with modern technical specifications that take into account the requirements of integrated administrative work, keeping pace with the rapid developments in the aviation system and operational services.

The building comprises four floors, fully equipped with the latest equipment and technology, according to the highest technical specifications, providing a sophisticated work environment that contributes to raising the efficiency of administrative performance, improving the level of services, and supporting efforts to develop the airport and enhance its operational readiness.

This project embodies a new phase of modern institutional development and the consolidation of quality and sustainability concepts in vital facilities. It also reflects the trend towards enhancing the status of Sirte as a modern air gateway and a promising development center, within the framework of the objectives of Libya Vision 2030.
