Al-Baour meets with EU Officials

Tripoli, June 4, 2026 (LANA) – The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, met today, Thursday, with the European Union Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, and the Head of the European Union Border Assistance Mission (EUBAM), Federic Petersen, to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation and lift restrictions imposed on Libyan flights to European airspace.
The Ministry stated on its official page that the meeting addressed ways to enhance cooperation between Libya and the European Union in a number of areas of mutual interest, supporting development and stability efforts and strengthening the partnership between the two sides. They also exchanged views on several relevant regional and international issues.
The Ministry explained that the meeting touched upon the issue of lifting restrictions on Libyan flights to European airspace, in coordination with the Civil Aviation Authority, in addition to programs to enhance efficiency and build the capacities of Libyan institutions. They emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and consultation to serve common interests.
She noted that the meeting was attended by the Director of the European Affairs Department, Abubakr Ibrahim Al-Tawil, and the Head of the European Union Section, Musab Hamza.
