Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity reaffirms its rejection of resettlement

Tripoli, June 1, 2026 (LANA) – Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity is monitoring, today, Monday, the concerns circulating on social media regarding the growing flow of illegal immigration and its security, economic, social, and health repercussions.
In a statement published on its official page, the Ministry affirmed its commitment to national principles in confronting this phenomenon, reiterating its clear position: “No to resettlement.”
The Ministry stressed the importance of the citizen’s right to express their opinion, a right guaranteed by the Interim Constitutional Declaration and applicable legislation. At the same time, it emphasized the need for accuracy in information circulating on some social media pages and cautioned against being swayed by rumors or inflammatory calls that are not based on factual information, given the potential consequences that could harm the national interest.
The Ministry, according to the statement, called for respect for the sanctity of diplomatic missions and the safety of their staff, and urged against any actions that could harm Libya's reputation or moral values.
The statement emphasized the necessity of expressing opinions peacefully and legally, and avoiding any individual or collective actions that could harm the interests of the state or affect its international relations.
In conclusion, the Ministry reiterated its commitment to protecting Libyan national security and the rights of its citizens, and to respecting the state's international obligations, while expressing confidence in the public's awareness and ability to exercise freedom of expression within the framework of the law.
