Al-Baour meets the Russian Ambassador

Tripoli, June 1, 2026 (LANA) – The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, met today, Monday, with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Libya, Haidar Aganin, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and the latest developments in Libya.

The Ministry stated on its official page that the meeting addressed prospects for enhancing and developing bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries in various fields, in a way that serves common interests and supports the existing partnership between them.

It explained that views were exchanged on a number of regional and international issues of common interest, most notably the latest developments in Libya and the efforts being made to support the path to stability and consolidate security, leading to the success of the political process and the fulfillment of the aspirations of the Libyan people.

Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing consultations and coordination on issues of common interest, and strengthening diplomatic channels to serve mutual interests and contribute to supporting regional stability and cooperation.

According to the Ministry, at the conclusion of the meeting, they reaffirmed the strength of Libyan-Russian relations and agreed to continue coordination and consultation in the coming period to enhance cooperation between the two countries and achieve the common interests of the two friendly peoples.
