Ministry of Foreign Affairs Participates in African-Korean Meeting in Seoul

Seoul, May 31, 2026 (LANA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation participated today, Sunday, in the African-Korean Senior Officials Meeting held in Seoul, South Korea, as part of preparations for the African-Korean Ministerial Meeting scheduled for June 1, 2026.
The Libyan delegation presented Libya's vision for developing the African-Korean partnership, emphasizing the importance of building upon the outcomes of the 2024 Africa-Korea Summit and working to strengthen cooperation in a way that supports sustainable development, technology transfer, capacity building, and contributes to achieving the goals of Agenda 2063.
Libya welcomed the draft joint statement's focus on strengthening cooperation in infrastructure, digital transformation, food security, health, energy, vital minerals, and human capacity development, considering these to be strategic priorities for African countries at this stage.
The Libyan delegation emphasized the importance of supporting African economic integration efforts and capitalizing on the opportunities offered by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). They also stressed the need to expand cooperation in education and training, capacity building, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and scientific research, thereby contributing to developing African talent capable of keeping pace with rapid global changes.
Furthermore, the Libyan delegation affirmed Libya's commitment to supporting the Africa-Korea partnership and working with various partners to serve the aspirations of the African people for development, stability, and prosperity.
The Libyan delegation included Hassan Mohamed Rabha, Director of the Department of Asian and Australian Affairs; Al-Aref Al-Mukhtar Biouk, Minister Plenipotentiary in the Department of African Affairs; and Mohamed Qani, Advisor at the Libyan Embassy in the Republic of Korea.
