Cairo, May 21, 2026 (LANA) – The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Libya, Hanna Tetteh, reaffirmed the international organization's commitment to working closely with regional partners and relevant Libyan stakeholders to achieve a comprehensive political process.
This came during her participation on Thursday in the meeting of the Tripartite Mechanism on Libya, which brought together the foreign ministers of Egypt, Algeria, and Tunisia in Cairo, according to the UN mission.
Tetteh briefed the ministers on the mission's efforts to implement the political roadmap, including the mini-meeting and the progress made in the structured dialogue tracks.
The ministers affirmed their support for efforts to promote peace and stability in Libya, praising the mission's efforts to assist Libyans in finding sustainable solutions to the political crisis plaguing the country. They stressed the importance of economic prosperity in Libya for political stability.
During the meeting, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General expressed her appreciation for the continued support from Libya's neighboring countries.
