Al-Menfi meets with political parties in Tripoli to promote national consensus and support the electoral process.

Tripoli, May 20, 2026 (LANA) – The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Al-Menfi, received the heads and representatives of several Libyan political parties today, Wednesday, at the Council's headquarters in Tripoli. This meeting was part of national efforts aimed at safeguarding the Libyan political process, strengthening national consensus, and pushing towards consensual national elections that will end the transitional phases and consolidate stability and the unity of the country's institutions.

The meeting included in-depth political discussions on the latest developments in the political process, the necessary guarantees for the success of the next phase, the importance of preserving national ownership of the political process, and enhancing partisan and political participation to support the establishment of a stable and sustainable democratic path.

The President expressed his appreciation for the efforts exerted by the (6+6) Committee, comprised of representatives from the House of Representatives and the High Council of State, regarding the drafting of parliamentary and presidential election laws. He also commended the work completed by the Advisory Committee on its observations regarding the finalized laws, ensuring greater consensus and fairness.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a joint political statement was issued by the political parties, outlining a set of national principles and parameters related to strengthening political legitimacy, unifying institutions, supporting the democratic process, and emphasizing the importance of broadening national participation in political dialogue as a fundamental step towards consolidating national stability and building a unified and stable state. This state would enable its people, through its legitimate institutions, to express their national will and decisions through democratic and peaceful means, while protecting political pluralism.
